S-RM is looking for a new junior analyst to join our Middle East and North Africa or sub Saharan Africa desk in our Political and Country Risk team in Cape Town.
Our Political and Country Risk team produces focused assessments to give our clients a superior understanding of the political, commercial and security environments in which they operate. We have a global reach, but each of our analysts is a regional specialist and develops deep insight to become a subject matter expert in their field.
Role and Responsibilities
Junior analysts have the opportunity to work on a variety of products within the political and country risk team. Our reporting ranges from shorter briefings, which include country assessments and articles, to extensive strategic and bespoke analyses, delivered through long-form reporting and our online platform, Global Security Insight (GSI). The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work on verbal briefings.
The standard of the reports we produce means that we are looking for exceptional applicants. The successful candidate will need to have the following competencies:
- A postgraduate qualification and a strong academic record, averaging 65 percent and above.
- Enthusiasm for current affairs;
- Excellence in research, writing and analytical techniques;
- Efficient time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines;
- Excellent written and spoken English;
- Strong oral and presentational skills;
- An eye for detail; and,
- Demonstrated knowledge on Middle East and North African or sub Saharan African affairs would be an added advantage. Candidates with this expertise will be preferred.
